Pooler Lions Club

Environmental Project

The Club regularly picks an Environmental Service Project to tackle.  Our current project is Plastic Recycling where we are collecting recycled plastic that will be made into a composite material for park benches.   Members and friends are collecting clean plastic grocery bags, zip lock bags and other stretchable plastic which is brought to our meetings.  No hard plastic is accepted for recycling.

We have partnered with the Pooler Piggly Wiggly who compacts the plastic for us.  When 500 pounds of plastic is collected, it is shipped to the Trex Company where it is recycled into a composite material for a park bench.  We receive a free bench in return which is placed somewhere in the community for the public to enjoy.

We hope you will enjoy our Pooler Lions Club Trex Bench at the Greater Pooler Area Chamber of Commerce gardens and at Pinewood Village.

Kindness in Action

When caring people join together, roll up their sleeves and take action to make their community better, it’s a beautiful thing—and an incredible feeling for everyone involved. That’s Lions. Being a Lion is about leading by example, building relationships and improving the world through kindness. It’s 1.4 million caring men and women serving together so they can make a lasting impact and change more lives.

When you join the Pooler Lions Club, you become part of a global network of volunteers working together to make a difference. Here are just a few of the great benefits you can expect.
