Pooler Lions Club

Glasses  Collection

The Club collects reading glasses, lenses and glass cases from area vision centers to be recycled. We currently collect an average of 150 sets of glasses and sunglasses each month that are given to the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation for recycling. The Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation operates one of the largest eyeglass recycling centers in the United States providing impact domestically and internationally. The Recycling Center is located in Chamblee, Georgia and is a volunteer-dependent initiative. You are invited to come to serve with us in the Recycling Center!

The Club also collects approximately 60 to 80 lenses per month. They are boxed separately and these collections are cleaned, repaired, prescription checked, packaged up and sent on mission trips around the world. In addition, over 6,000 pairs of glasses have been sent to The Lighthouse for distribution in the Dominican Republic where those in need are given the chance of improved vision.

Glass cases that are collected are used as a container for putting together hygiene packets for the homeless filled with items like Band-Aids, Neosporin, wipes, lip balm, dental floss, etc. This makes an impact right here in our Community.

Kindness in Action

When caring people join together, roll up their sleeves and take action to make their community better, it’s a beautiful thing—and an incredible feeling for everyone involved. That’s Lions. Being a Lion is about leading by example, building relationships and improving the world through kindness. It’s 1.4 million caring men and women serving together so they can make a lasting impact and change more lives.

When you join the Pooler Lions Club, you become part of a global network of volunteers working together to make a difference. Here are just a few of the great benefits you can expect.
